A poem by anon, entitled "Day 1"

The alarm goes off at 7:30
Should we get up, or is it too early?
The rain is trickling on the roof
I suppose it's time to be up and aloof.
After breakfast make some lunch
ham salad sandwiches with hopefully no sand to crunch!
Onto 90 mile beach we go
wave to a few people we know.
Drive up the beach looking for a lair
to make our own for the day - that's where!
No wind to start with, climb a hill
it doesn't really help with wind rate at nil.
A little while later enough gusts get us out
then we are happy to start and shout.
O dear, O dear Team Kiwi we see
have hooked our line - oh golly gee!
They bring in our fish, that saved us some work
Oh my, isn't that we call a perk!
Bait up, bait up, 20 hooks for the line
Oh I mean 10, that's right! better toe the line!
Next set out, this is fun for a lark
Bring it in, 1 snapper, 1 hammerhead shark.
Third set on, it goes out well
till Team Kiwi again hook us, Wot the hell!!
4th set out. Fingers crossed for us we remark
to catch a big fish, not the almighty shark.
The line comes in - what have we here.
2 kahawai, that's all, but fair.
Team Kiwi leave - the beach is ours!
Lets put the line out for hours and hours!
No line to hook us now we can relax
and have a cuppa to lessen the flack.
We pull in the line with hopefull eyes
and catch 4 snapper to our surprise.
The day is done, the fishing is over
till tomorrow when we start over.
