History of the Karikari Peninsula |
If any locals have some good information about the history of the area please send it to me.
In the mean time I've found several places on the web with information about the history of the area.
This report from the Waitangi Tribunal contains both Maori and early European history.
This poem by Gerry Webb is about the visit of de Surville to the peninsula in December 1769.
Not really history but I also found this article where NZ's top rally driver Possum Bourne, says Whatuwhiwhi "was an amazing place for a summer holiday and I still think it's the best beach in the country".
